Play Platforms, Verandahs and Activity Play Areas |
|
|
|
The majority of the play areas constructed by Belsize Landscapes,
have a Play Platform as a central feature. This may serve the purpose
of providing an elevation for a Tree House or may be constructed
with open sides or a roof or may be used 'per se' for a variety
of activities; all platforms are fitted with hand rails as necessary.

A standard Belsize Platform would have a vertical scramble net,
an overhead projecting beam for knotted climbing ropes, a steel
and wood slide and either a ladder or a wooden ramp.
The variations on this basic theme are endless; Rope Jungle Bridges
of any length imaginable can stretch between platforms; scramble
nets can be laid horizontally; monkey bars with adjustable varying
heights can span open spaces; an overhead beam can run off the side
of the platform to carry suspended activity items such as children's
swings, toddler cradle swings, trapeze bars, gymnasium rings, a
button seat or a tyre swing.
Another very popular play item developed by Belsize Landscapes
is their Pirate Boat, their Flying Dragon and their Runaway Train.
This is a Gondola type boat which hangs from a solid wooden frame
and the two occupants of the boat pull downwards on suspended ropes,
against each other. This incredible piece of fantasy play equipment
requires a minimum overall space of 15 feet with a width of 6 feet.

Recent developements by Belsize Landscapes have been drawbridges,
look out towers, secret trapdoors (without lids or hinges), secret
staircases, supply baskets on a rope, acrobat bars and beam balancing
bars. At the request of various of their clients, Belsize Landscapes
are currently developing (in their mountain laboratories) a most
ingenious and highly sophisticated 'anti brother and his awful friends
cunning secret weapon.' They hope to have perfected this new item
quite soon.

The song of the Wayfaring Tree Fairy
My shoots are tipped with buds
as dusty-grey
As ancient pilgrims toiling on their way.
Like Thursday's child with far
to go, I stand,
All ready to the road to Fairyland;
With hood, and bag, and shoes,
with name to suit,
And in my hand my gorgeous-tinted fruit.
